Valley Gives Thank You

I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our region, but not surprised.  It was amazing to watch the donations pile up starting at midnight to LPV and hundreds of other organizations.Collectively, Valley Gives raised more than two million dollars in one day for hundreds of organizations in the Pioneer Valley.  This is double what was raised last year!

Thank you to all who participated in Valley Gives and those who supported LPV.  With your help, LPV surpassed our goal of $5,000 and raised $5,233.  We ranked 32nd among small non-profits in amount raised, which is even stronger than last year.

Your support allows us to continue our work of developing and connecting diverse leaders throughout the Pioneer Valley and specifically allows us to offer scholarships to potential participants.  Employer-sponsored tuition only covers about a third of our training costs, so we rely on additional support to deliver quality programs and offer scholarships.  Events like Valley Gives and your support are vital to our continued success.

Volunteer at the Food Bank

Next Saturday, LPV alumni have organized a community service event at the Food Bank of Western MA.  Over the last two years, we have visited the Food Bank during our Hampshire County Field Experience.  It is one of the highlights of the day.  We have gotten tours and learned about food insecurity in the region.  We are glad to be giving back to this amazingly important resource in the Valley.  We were astounded to learn that 1 in 8 people in our region face hunger or food insecurity.  Please join us during this busy season for the Food Bank.

Class of 2014 Up and Running

We had the pleasure of spending two days at a retreat with the 39 members of the new class of Leadership Pioneer Valley.  This is a diverse group of individuals from all three counties and a variety of organizations, businesses, and municipalities.  I was struck by their openness and willingness to confront themselves and difficult issues head-on.  They did not hold back or play it safe.  Each person began crafting their own personal leadership visions of how they want to grow during their time in the program.  Each left with a better understanding of themselves, the Valley, and how to work better with others.  I look forward to the next 10 months with this amazing group.

LPV Seeks Project Proposals

We are looking for project proposals  from you for our upcoming class of Leadership Pioneer Valley!  The region and your organization benefit from the projects while the team members have the opportunity to apply the skills learned in their leadership training sessions. At the conclusion of the program, commencement will include presentations by each team highlighting their learning, their process and the outcomes of their project.  All projects submitted will be reviewed by project teams of roughly 7 individuals who will choose their project.  The teams will have roughly 6 months to implement each project and work with their community partner.  This is a great opportunity for both our teams and your organization.  Past teams have made significant impacts on a variety of issues

Proposals should be submitted by September 20th.  Thank you for your consideration and do not hesitate to contact me with questions.

See RFP to submit proposal.

Supporting Baystate Diversity Conference

Leadership Pioneer Valley is proud to be a supporter of Baystate’s upcoming Diversity & Inclusion Conference on September 10th.  As recent events have shown, we still have a way to go on some fronts.  Creating more inclusive workplaces, neighborhoods, communities, and regions takes time and resources.  This is a great opportunity to reenergize, connect with others, and learn.  We hope you can attend.
